I created a new bed this spring planted with lots of black eyed susans. The rabbits have been eating them so that they haven't been able to grow. Some of them have only one or two leaves left. I really would like to have blackeyed susans there. If I plant some in early fall (it's too hot to be planting now) and they don't get eaten then, would they have a better chance next year of surviving the rabbits as a second year plant? Or is it hopeless? Would it help if I surrounded them with plants rabbits don't like? Do the rabbit repellant sprays work?
