| I suspect it is, but before I send it to compost heaven, I'd like to make sure. It's growing in part sun.

| I don't think it's a fleabane. Whatever it is, and I don't know for sure, it is a weed -- they come up here and there in my yard. Someone once told me that this plant is Guizotia abyssinica aka Niger thistle, niger seed, or nyjer, the plant grown for the small, black, expensive "thistle" seeds sold for wild bird (especially finch) feed. I don't know if it is or not, I haven't ever let them grow out to the point they would bloom to see if they would make the yellow, daisy like flowers of Niger thistle. However, the plant in your photo, and those in my garden, do bear some resemblance to images of young Guizotia I have found online. OTOH, the seeds of Niger imported to the US are supposed to be heat sterilized so they can't sprout (the USDA is afraid of its weed potential), so whether or not some are coming through in birdseed not properly treated and then being spread and sprouting, I can't say for sure. Bottom line, it's a weed of some kind. |

| Thanks! I agree that's what it is. That baby's coming out to be replaced by a Heucherea Midnight Rose that's eagerly awaiting its new home. |

| Wow, what is that heuchera? What a gorgeous color! Dee Oh yeah, the weed, lol - I don't know what it is, but I've got it everywhere! |
