| I WS'd the Lilliput Variety. They keep growing straight. Not showing any signs of leafing outward or blooms. I keep pinching them back to spur more outward growth. To No Avail. Should I just leave them? (I never grew them before).
They are in new soil. I am getting blooms on the snapdagons, Marigolds, Nigella, MG's, and Calendula. Are they late bloomers? |

| Don't know about pinching, but I do know that all asters are triggered to begin blooming when days shorten. They will start booming towards fall, even if they are annuals. Last year I grew some annual asters and was unhappy that they waited so long to bloom. I decided not to grow them again. When they did bloom they were such a wonderful sight in the garden I changed my mind and decided to grow them always! Worth the wait. |

| Thanks Deanna. I will stop pinching them back to force more growth. |

| The rule of thumb that I use is to pinch before the 4th of July and no more after that. I just clip off (with fingernails or bypass pruners) the growing tips of all of them and that's it! :) Just nip the tip! lol It worked great for me last season. They bloomed in September thru October for me, right on time! |
