Obedient Plant cultivars that really behave?

I know the normal obedient plant is very invasive. I just bought some 'Miss Manners", the white one that is supposed to be less invasive.
Do people (esp those in zone 5) find that it really does stay well-behaved?
What about this new 'Pink Manners' cultivar that I have seen on some nursery sites? Has anyone had a chance to try that one? If I can trust that Miss Manners and Pink Manners will not take over my garden, I think they could look very pretty together.

If it's a little too shady, a little too wet, it will behave. At least that was my experience with it in 5b. After about 7 years, the little patch eventually died. Depends on the conditions it seems.

When you say to put it in moist soil, does that mean you think it would take over in dry conditions? I had read that it actually likes moist soil and will spread less in dry soil. The spot I plan for it is pretty dry, so that's why I'm wondering. I don't want to regret putting it there.

Sorry, I don't know. I had read it likes moist soil and the spot I chose was often flooded. Ended up not really liking it enough to try moving it even though it was obviously too much moisture for it. Will need another testimonial for that answer.

I find that 'Miss Manners' is much less vigorous than most other obedient plants, even to the point of dying out in overly shady, dry conditions. It is certainly NOT invasive for me. Another cultivar I really like is 'Vivid', a short, very late-blooming deep pink. It is more vigorous than 'Miss Manners', but still not invasive.

I bought 'Vivid' from Bluestone Perennials about 4 years ago. Even though it was in a dry spot, it went crazy after 2 years. I put it in pots, and just this spring finally got it back in the ground in back in a kind of "wild" bed where it can spread to its heart's content. I also started Physostegia 'Crystal Peak' from seed last Spring, and that does not seem aggressive at all. If anything, it's the opposite - only about half the plants have survived, and they're still fairly small for a 2nd year perennial.
