Can you divide salvia?

| I have several beautiful Salvia....just wondering if I can divide them and if I can, when is the best time? |

| Yes, and do it in early spring before they get much growth on. |

| Or in the fall. Salvia are incredibly tough. In fact my 'May Night' keep reappearing in the spots where I removed them. Cool on one hand, annoying on the other! |

| I divided mine last month, and it got real hot and sunny the next day.....the plants flopped on the ground and I thought they were goners. With the advice I got on this forum, I made a shade barrier for them and gave them plenty of water, and now they're doing ok. |

| When ever you cut them back to make more compact you can easily make new plants of the cut off parts. This can be done any time during the growth season. Al |
