| Cat Scat Solution
To keep cats from digging in containers and newly-seeded beds mix 1 cup vinegar and 2 tablespoon chili paste with garlic ( sold in Asian markets ) with 1 quart of water. Sprinkle the mixture over the area where cats frequent and they will never return. The mixture will deter dogs as well. I found the chili paste in my local grocery. This really does work. They hate the smell. |

| Thanks for the tip! :0) Does it smell, though? I tried mopping my tile floors with dilute vinegar, and while it cleaned well the smell could be overpowering, especially on a warm, humid day, so I nixed that routine. |

| I would think you wouldn't want to add that much vinegar to your dirt if you're concerned with disrupting the pH. Particularly if you're in an area with low pH like the North East already. I'm not saying it's not a good remedy, but if you use enough that can definetly have a negative impact on your soily. Maybe add some calcium tablets to neutralize the vinegar (which might remove it's purpose); just be careful not to use baking powder, as that would release Sodium (salt) into the soil which would also be bad. I have feral cat problems, and the only thing that seems to work yet is growing sharp plants, and covering all possible areas with netting, and/or unpleasant things. |
