| As a certified plantaholic I am always looking for new ones for my garden. Last summer while at an RV park (for work) I walked around the neighborhood, some of the places were permanant homes and had gardens. One lady was out working in her garden, and as an uncertified official garden inspector we started talking, by the end of the stay I had plants to take home!! One was an iris, the other was phlox, at least that's what she told me.
Today while out inspecting my garden I discovered that the "phlox" she gave is milkweed, and how do I know this? Because it is covered with Monarch caterpillars!! This is not a milkweed I am familiar with. I have watched the swamp milkweed down by the pond for ages, never have I found a monarch caterpillar, I guess I was looking at the wrong plant. I am so excited! Now to make sure the goose doesn't have lunch, I put a short fence around it. |

| How cool is that?! I love surprises, too, but rarely get any that great. |
|
| So, do you know what kind of milkweed it is? Has it flowered for you? |
|
| Nope I have no idea what kind of milkweed, I just planted it last fall, and it has not flowered yet. I DO know it is not swamp milkweed, I have that growing wild all over the place. |
