| Just wanted to share a lovely Dianthus bloom... such a vivid pink. Amazing how far my zone is behind this year in bloom times...

| Nice! Is that Firewitch? Mine is blooming now too and it smells so great, I love dianthus. Your clump looks perfectly covered in flowers! |

| Lovely! Looks exactly like mine dianthus 'Bath's Pink'. Mine already almost finished blooming. |

| That odes look like Firewitch. Beautiful stand of them. Green-go, Bath's pink is a much lighter pink. Here's a picture of mine:

| Nice! It really is covered with flowers and I love the short gray foliage. Mine finished up about a week ago. I should probably trim it back but I do like the surprise seedlings which sometimes appear. |

| Agree 'Bath's Pink' (below June 9, 2014) is a lighter pink than 'Feuerhexe' (Firewitch). Find it's also a bit taller and much more vigorous. Have to reduce the size of clump below by at least 50%, every year, but it always comes back. |

| I agree with the vigorous assessment! I gave away a lot this year; it had spread to enormous proportions. |

| How and when do you prune your pinks? TIA |
RE: Dianthus

| Lovely shade, one of my favorite flowers. My dianthus won't be blooming for another couple of weeks. |

| I just chop around it with a spade and disposed of the outer bits; especially want to edge (it's in a grass border) in front of it. With many perennials it's the newer outer bits you want to keep, but this hasn't matter so far. I do, however, more or less, dress the beds yearly with organic matter. Don't know about reseeding, but always deadhead the block of 'Bath's Pink' after flowering; neatness. |

| Well, then probably I have Firewitch too? Or not? Here is mine:

| Yes, the original pic is Firewitch and that would be yours as well green_go. |
