Are these killed now?

*Rant AND question*

So my parents hired some one to come mow the lawn and they never bothered to show them where the plants are or to even let me know that this was happening so I could, so the mower guy obviously didn't care and mowed over my woodland garden that had blood root, Salomon seal, false Salomon seal, bleeding hearts in it, and baby hellebores, amongst other not so cherished things.

Mowed right down to the ground. Are these as good as dead now? I can't imagine that this heat and drought and now this stress can be all that great for them.

I am aware that fires are supposed to replenish the land and mowing can sometimes imitate that but I don't think it's going to work out to the same results here...

I shudder to think of what else they mowed over and I have trouble working up the courage to find out...

You'd think that when you landscape for people at your own expense and with their permission and encouragement, they wouldn't do this kind of thing but you'd be surprised...

End of ranting. Are the plants most likely as good as dead?

Are they established plants? If so, there's probably no problem. Worse things happen to established perennials and they survive.

I'm sure next year they will all return better than ever...think of it as deer having a feast.

Those are tough plants. I bet they come back too!

The established ones should be fine next year, not sure about the baby hellebores.

Re: Bloodroot: They disappear for seemingly no reason (I have lost established clumps, which I've posted about before, and for the life of me can't figure out why...) so if you lose them don't be too quick to blame on the mowers.
