At my local TJ Maxx Home Goods. These were all $39. I think they are 7-10 gallons. Great prices!

| I like the intense colors of some of these pots, but beware - very often they have very small drainage holes or only 1 small drainage hole which needs to be expanded if you don't want your plants to drown. And drilling through these pots to make for better drainage is not easily. They can be very thick and hard. Make sure you have an electric drill, a few good ceramic bits, a lot of muscle and time. | Kevin, thanks! If memory serves they all had one large (perhaps 3" diameter) hole at the bottom. Would you recommend putting in more? Typically in these giant containers I put empty plastic flats in upside down as filler in the bottom for drainage. That way they don't get too wet or even heavier than necessary. What are your tips? |

If it has a 3 inch hole, that should be fine. I guess I've never seen that before. As far as filler goes, you have to take into consideration what you're going to plant in the container. If it's something with a huge root system, you probably don't need anything. If you're going to plant some annuals with shallow roots, yes fillers are a good idea. I often use lava rock. It's worked well for me and is cheap. Kevin

Nevermore, my original post says $39. If you wait a bit more they may go on further sale.

Nice! I've picked up a few pieces of pottery over the years at TJ's, some things better quality than others but can't be the prices, especially when they mark stuff down. I love TJ's - worth hunting through the junky stuff to find the treasures, especially cookware, high-end purses/shoes.
