| I started some ipswich pinks dianthus from seed last year, didn't expect them to bloom the first year and they didn't. This year, however, I expected a lot of bloom, but I have had very little flowering from them. The plants themselves are full and bushy, about 12 inches across, very healthy. But, they have given an occasional flower here and there. I can't understand why. They are planted amonng other flowers (including other types of dianthus) that are full of bloom. What is wrong with them? |

| This type of Dianthus was always slow to establish for me when I lived in zone 5. The 2nd year from seed is still a very young perennial. Be patient, grasshopper. |

| I had also started some last year, they had been badly neglected and many had perished ... though, those that had made it are covered in fragrant bloom. Possibly, your soil is very rich and your plants are growing a lot of vegetation at the expense of flowers ... though, if that's the case, they're sure to bloom their heads off next year, I hope.
