rose campion seedings popping up

I plan to reduce the width of my two front flowerbeds in September when the weather is usually cooler, not 97 degrees like it has been for past 2 weeks every day. I find small rose campion plants that have started from Mother plant. If I take and dig those up now, put them in small pots and keep them watered, do you think they will survive? I had a friend over for lunch on Friday and she said she'd take them off my hands. I'm trying to get ahead of myself a little because what I have to do to reduce these two beds is going to be labor intensive and I'm thinking about digging my tulip and daff bulbs up now and storing them in net hosiery bags in the garage until I can replant them in the fall to their permanent place. I also have a lot of large flowerpots that i could transfer them to now until the Fall and new bed is
Which do you suggest to be the better solution?

i would leave them be.. until sept.. and just do it all at once..

why you think all that work of digging and potting will make less work.. i dont understand ... less work.. is leaving them there...

if your friend wants them... have her prep an area.. come over with a plastic grocery bag.. fill the bag.. and let here go plant them at home.... see!!!! ... no work for you ... well.. one phone call .. lol...

frankly.. arent the mature ones blooming.. give her a couple million seeds.. and just kill yours .... its not like they are hard to come by ... lol.. once you have one in bloom ....

save some seed for yourself to spread.. after your bed work is done ....

listen to me.... you said.. your goal.. is to reduce your garden.... but dont get confused.. and go making it a giant chore ...

my best idea ... prep a small holding area [maybe your veggie garden?]... and in sept.. move some precious things over there.... then decimate your beds.. and next spring.. move out your treasures ....

I've found them to be quite resilient, so I think potting them up would be fine as long as they are kept watered enough. They don't like being soggy, though.

Alternatively (or additionally) you can save seed - just shake the seed heads into a small paper bag - since they grow easily from seed.

In my experience this thing spreads like crazy. I started with one plant several years ago and now they are all over my yard and have even spread to a rocky patio area. I would leave them be. It's often that the center "mother" plant dies anyhow and the side plants live on. I've never had to reseed them. They just appear here and there.

The do reseed, but for me, never where I want them to. This year all the seedlings wound up in my lawn, so I dug them up and moved them.
