Companion for Bear's Breeches Acanthus

I am not sure which one I have, mollis, hungaricus or spinosa. After just growing leaves for almost five years it finally started blooming for me for the past three years, getting better every year. I guess it just needed time to get established, or maybe my talk of compost heaps and shovel pruning around it had an effect.

In any case, I am trying to come up with some good companions, but I am drawing blanks. The plant is so striking in its leaves and flowers, I am not sure what to even try. Do you have good suggestions of what worked for you, or what you have seen, or what you think wouod look good next to it? The location is mostly full sun, clay-ish soil that has been amended for years now, and it is in a fairly dry spot for most of the summer months.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.

Marc
