Sorry if a lot of these pics are sideways, everybody. I posted them from my phone and they showed right side up at the time. Now that I look on my computer, a lot of them look sideways. ?????

Flower-frenzy, what is not to love when you can feast your eyes on all that beauty in your yard all summer.

Two plants in particular that are at full bloom now in my yard make every day a joy for me. Hydrangea 'Quick Fire' and Monarda 'Raspberry Wine' attract a huge varitey of bugs/pollinators from butterflies and moths and dozens of kinds of bee, flies, beetles. I spend hours watching them.

A large stand of Monarda. It hums with activity.

    The Hydrangea also hums

WOW!!!! Gorgeous photos, gazania! I can't believe how huge your bee balm is.

It's fun to watch your yard come to life with all of the little creatures, isn't it? (as long as it's not Japanese Beetles or slugs...lol)

What kind of bug is that furry little guy in your second picture?

The furry guy is a hummingbird moth. That Bee Balm pretty much fills an 8 foot round bed. Put 3 plants in 4 years ago and let it spread. I love it for color and for all the creatures that love it for food.

Japanese beetles are here but not nearly as many as the past couple years. The only plant that they have swarmed on is a particular geranium leaving other geraniums next to it untouched.

I love that hummingbird moth. Aptly named, too, because I was looking at it and at first I thought it was a hummingbird...but then not. I've never seen one of those around here in the PNW, although we might have them. Certainly none in my garden.

I haven't seen any Japanese Beetles this year either. There's a little black beetle that's giving me fits, though. That and I seem to have earwig issues this year.
