I have several gardens that at present have nothing but daffodils in them up by the roadside. I plan to add some daylilies in front of them to hide the ripening daff foliage, and would like some suggestions as to what else would be good to cover the time period between daff bloom and daylily bloom (July here). Perennial ideas wanted! The area gets some morning sun mostly and does not get watered except by Mother Nature, The few daylilies nearby bloom very well, and the daffs are glorious. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

What do you want? Color, size, bloom time. There are late blooming daffodils, and early blooming daylilies, so theoretically, you can have continually blooming without adding any other types of plants.

It's been my observation and experience that Mertensia virginica/Virginia bluebells, Brunnera/Siberian bugloss, Polemonium/Jacob's ladder, perennial geranium, Aquilegia/columbine & Dianthus/carnation bloom between daffs and daylilies. In part shade, these have performed well where I am one zone warmer. There are likely others but these are plants I'm growing for the bees, butterflies & hummingbirds.
