bellflower questions

I have campanula persicifolia "taikon blue" which is gorgeous and has been blooming since late May. It's stems are getting a little ragged looking however with all the deadheading. I've read you can cut the stems down when they look ratty to get new growth, but will that end it's blooming, or will it put up new blooming stalks?

Also, I've been reading about campanula carpatica 'Blue Clips' and it sounds fabulous and something I could use in several spots. I've heard it grows well from seed, but from my reading I can't figure out if it will bloom the first year from seed. I'd like to save the money and fall sow them this year, but if they won't bloom next year I'll just buy the plants.

Thanks!!
