Im not sure if I lost 80% of my perennials because of this winters cold or because of the blizzard we had in early May .Perhaps a combination of the two .But to fill in space I bought a few packs of annual seeds and tossed them in the bed. Look at this larkspur ... I just love this color of pink .

PS .FYI: Did you know Larkspur is the flower of the month of July and its meaning denotes Fickleness.

That is so pretty! What a wonderful surprise for you and I love you interesting fact, too!

I love the bright colors of larkspur in the garden. The ones I have in fill sun have all gone to seed but I see the ones on the shady edge are still putting out side shoots. Sorry about your perennial loses. Here in SE Iowa we didn't have snow cover all summer so I wonder if that contributes to plant loses. Some golden Japanese wood grass didn't make it through the winter here.

I love larkspur! I always had trouble growing it - it germinated fine for me, but always seemed so weak and spindly. Then I started to get reseeders, and I noticed that these were stronger. Still doesn't seem to be a strong and vigorous plant, but the reseeders are hardier than my seedlings. Lovely color! Thanks for sharing! Dee

Love them too. In early spring when I am getting the veggie beds ready there are always a few volunteers. I move them to a place where they can spend the summer and make more seedlings to greet me next spring. Their color is interesting to me in how there is green in the flower ribs - I love that. Thanks for sharing the photo Sammy!

Oh I love pink, and would be delighted to have some of those mixed in the garden. But like Dee larkspur has never grown well for me. Tried winter-sowing, tried direct seeding, got nothing but a spindly little plant or 2. ???
