Last year I gave lots of kudos to this obvious replacement plant for "Goldsturm" i.e. much more compact and no expansion (and for me much less leaf disease and as well for me, LG seems to bloom sooner than did G). Here is LG this year. (This photo shows two plants planted too closely together). They have been in bloom for over a week. Surely there are many other GW members who have LG in their garden? How has it performed for you?

Did not survive over the winter for me.

Thanks boday for the pic. I think you will really like this plant. I am surprised that it didnt survive for you 'debbie' as it easily came through this past somewhat problematic winter and spring in my zone 4.

Oddly enough, mine is barely alive as well. I know it had nothing to do with the winter as we had an exceptionally mild one and I grow all manner of semi-hardy stuff right next to it, all of which is doing fine. I think it just got mangled by either snails or bunnies earlier this season and is now just trying to play catch-up. And not very successfully :-(

Rouge That's last year's plant after a split this spring. It survived the winter and doing well.

Rouge That's last year's plant after a split this spring. It was too small to do it last year. It survived the winter and is doing well. Sorry about the double post. The first one was out there in the ethernet.

I like how compact it is. The flowers appear smaller than Goldsturm too, but there sure are a lot of them. I seem to be one of those few people who has absolutely no problems with Goldsturm however. It still remains one of my most dependable, end of summer bloomers. Funny how that works. Kevin
