Stokes Asters not blooming

My older Stokes asters did not put out buds this year at all. However, there are new plants nearby that have bloomed.
What should I do with the older plants that have sprouted only their base leaves? Will dividing them renew them and when should I do it if that is so.

This happened to me this year too. I'm not sure what to do, but am tempted to replace.

How old are your plants? All my Stokes asters are in full bloom at the moment. Mine are all seed-grown, not nursery stock. They were grown from seed via winter sowing in 2011-2012.

The plants go back about 8 years with additional volunteers starting around 4 years ago. All of those are not putting out buds. The volunteers that are blooming go back about 2 years. All my Stokes have started from 3 potted plants and kept spreading.

I have one that didn't bloom last year, which I thought was due to transplanting?

This year it has only two blooms.

Quite disappointing...
