My new Penstemon - Cathedral Hot Rose

I am adding more perennials to my established garden to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. I need to check if the Cathedral Hot Rose qualifies, but I could not pass this one up when I saw it at Lowe's yesterday. It is cold hardy to -10 to -20, blooms summer to fall, can reach 24" tall with a spread of 12"-18". They must have just gotten them in because they looked great.

I also got a monkshood at a local garden center. It has a generic tag just stating Monkshood, but some of the flowers were blooming and I love the color. It is a rich, deep violet blue. I did find another tag when I planted it that says Spark's Variety, but the size is off which shows only 12"-24" tall (this size matches the spacing so I think it is a typo). The plant is already 4' tall. An hibiscus, Sweet Caroline ( a deep pink) also came home with me.

I would appreciate any feedback on these perennials, such as your favorites, and how they do for you. I know that monkshood is toxic/deadly if ingested etc.

Thank you. Jane
