Can anyone ID this beautiful flower?

This beautiful flower showed up in my veggie garden this year. I've never planted anything like it, so I'm wondering how it got there, ( bird dropping?) and what it is? How do I collect seeds from it so I can grow it again?

I'm assuming it's a perennial.

Annual Rudbeckia?

Looks like Rudbeckia Cappucinno which will often over winter in Zone 4 and up with a little protection. If not you can harvest the seeds as the blooms die and seed in early spring. Rudbeckia self seed readily so this baby probably blew in and decided to stay. :) Very warm Mexican Sunflower.

Thanks for the ID. I have no idea how it got there, but I sure hope I can get seeds from it and plant it in my flower garden next year. I didn't plant anything in the veggie box this year, so if I had, this guy would have never grown. I'd of yanked it for a weed early on.

Yes that looks like Rudbeckia hirta 'Cappucino'. I've winter-sowed this cultivar and it is very easy to start from seed. It might over-winter and come back next year, although only 1 or 2 of mine have ever done so. Some of the other cultivars of R. hirta like Indian Summer overwinter more often.

To collect seed, wait until the seedheads have dried up and turned brown. Then clip them off, put them in a bowl or paper bag, and let them dry a couple more weeks. Then you dissect the seedheads and extract the seed.

Here's a link showing what the seeds look like.

I love Rudbeckia. Here are the ones I started from the seeds I saved last Fall. The varieties are Indian Summer and Gloriosa Daisy. The third picture shows the seeds started in March. It takes 3 months for them to bloom. I just dropped tons of seeds on that bed since I did not know how many would germinate. I had so many plants, I had to give away many to the neighbors. Going to try this again next year.

Also, I put the dryed old flowers in a plastic ziplock bag and then I hit the flowers with a hammer, and the seeds fall to the bottom of the bag.

I don't think it is cappucino, which I currently have blooming. There is no yellow on it at all. But it is definitely an annual rudbeckia...I have that one too. They all seem to self seed like crazy...I have it pop up all over my yard.

Looks like R. hirta 'Autumn Colors' to me. I grew them from seed last year via WS and they all came back again this year right where I planted them. Same with 'Irish Eyes.' I'm WS 'Cappuccino' this year but won't see flowers until next month or possibly next year. 'Irish Eyes' bloomed the second year from seed while the 'Autumn Colors' bloomed the first year.

Beautiful pics! I have an identification problem as well but I don't have a pic. Saw a sprawling lovely cranesbill with cupped wine/pink/rose flowers which the grower identified as "Little Wine Cup'. Can't find it anywhere. It was short but very sprawling and in Zone 4 he said it bloomed rom June until frost. Help please! I want it in my garden.
