It sounds like you're talking about Silver Mound....? That one flops open easily if it gets too tall. I cut mine back to 3-4" and time it gets taller than 5" or so. It looks obviously cut back for a day or two but quickly recovers. The easiest way to cut it back is with grass shears - a couple of clips with those makes a fast and even cut.

We were posting at the same time... Yes, that looks like Silver Mound.... Shear it regularly and it's a nice, neat plant.
