in those 4 years.. have you ever divided them???

dig them up.. clean them up.. divide them.. and stick them back in the soil ...

i would tend to do that in sept or so.. unless the plant looked really bad... but then.. if so.. and i had others.. i would dig them up..and find out whats going on underground ...

Its been two years since I last divided them. The large clump that completely died was one that I took some pieces from the edges to give to friends, without taking it all out of the ground. I threw out that clump but I'll dig up a bit of the ailing ones tonight and examine the roots and take photos.

Just out of curiosity, the stems that are laying down will they easily pull off from the plant. If they do I'd suspect crown damage, Find the best part you can after digging up and replant that piece or pieces. I don't grow daisies any more but like said above, they wear out and need divided every couple years to keep healthy.

Yes, they do. I can just pick it up and hardly need to pull at all to take off a piece.

That sounds like crown rot - I've had that on my daisies but we live in an overall arid climate so they seem to just get over it. I don't know what the solution would be elsewhere but I'm sure that someone else will know. Where are you located?

I'm in East Tennessee. We have had an incredible amount of rain lately, much more than usual.
