Coneflower seedlings. . .

Hi, I noticed I have a bunch of seedlings coming up in and around the area where I had my coneflower before I moved it. Some of them aren't where I would have planted them (in the middle of snow in summer, right up against a Forsythia bush etc) but I will leave them and see what they do. There is no signs of flower buds yet, which I don't expect there to be this year. But Do you think the small (approx. 4-6" tall) will be strong enough to survive the winter?

Out of 6 plants last year only one survived (not winter kill, they died during the growing season) now I have a dozen or more babies. . . go figure. . .

I have tons of coneflower seedlings over here in BZN, so I'm sure yours will be similarly happy. They do so well, and I love them!

Yup, agreed. Except for that I do have too many now! I've been giving them away, so if you feel like driving here you can dig up some big fat clumps of them.

The seedlings also survive winter here in cold snowy MN without any winter mulch. I don't have too many yet but can see the day coming so have been less careful weeding around them and not caring if a seedling gets weeded out.

Edited to add:
Also have been culling my stands of echinacea for the largest and best colored and/or fragrant flowers. Was surprised today to see a lone plant far way from the others with a large very nicely shaped white flower in a partly shaded area. A keeper for sure.
