This one is in the ground and not staked. I planted it a bit deeper and it seems to have suited it rather well.

So pretty. Love the red and yellow combo. Are you planning to dig them up in the fall?

Lovely and cheerful looking. I tend to have a few glads overwinter in the ground here but I generally dig up the bulk if my plants. They overwinter easily in a milk crate in my basement.

Yes, I will have to dig them up this fall. I don't think they will survive otherwise. Thanks for the compliments! I also planted some purples that have not bloomed yet. Will post pics later.

Bluebird I'm so "glad" for you! Would you report back next season and let us know if the care needed is worth it? I've thought about growing them. Thanks!

I love glads. When I was a kid, my father grew around 1500 of these every year just for the heck of it. We always had tons of bouquets in the house and he gave them away to just about anyone who wanted them. Very pleasant memories. Kevin

I don't grow gladiolas since I can't be bothered digging the bulbs in fall but that combo pic of the Stokesia, yarrow (Coronation Gold?) & glad is a stunning combination of color. The brick walkway makes a lovely textural contrast. Well done you!

Kevin, that sounds lovely although like a lot of work!
