| My malva Zebrina has bloomed for 5 weeks now and seems to have petered out. Will it put out a new flush of blooms, or do I need to cut it back? Since the flowers are along the stems, I don't know how I would really deadhead it. Thanks,

| It will keep blooming without deadheading. But watch the seeds. I had new plants coming up for years after I got rid of mine. |

| I have never had a seedling from Malva zebrina. I certainly wish I did as I buy them as annuals at a high price. I have grown them from purchased seed and they are easy. And yes I have waited til the seed ripens before cutting back. When heat arrives, they look rotten so I cut them back to about a foot high. I get some bloom as the weather cools but nothing like those six gorgeous weeks in late May and June and early July that make this plant so worth having. |

| I have always collected seed or just let them reseed and done both.ie collected seed and reseeded myself in the fall. I think that is the secret since apparently they need stratification. And from what I have found, lots of water. :) |
