Helenium autumnale with possible leave problem

I planted some Helenium autumnale and I notice the bottom leaves are drying up. What can be causing this? Lack of water?

Mine do that when they don't get enough water. They like a good soaking. Also, mine are forming flower buds already, they usually don't start blooming until mid-August for me and fade out by the middle of September.
