I posted to the Annuals forum, but it's not very busy there right now. I have Sunflower 'Lemon Queen' blooming and I haven't grown the branching sunflowers before. The older blooms quickly seem to make seed and I'm wondering should I be deadheading them before they go to seed, so the plant will keep blooming, or will it keep blooming any way? Anyone grow this variety?

'Lemon Queen' is fully perennial. I would consider it very tedious to deadhead a large 'LQ' and have not seen seedlings from letting seeds form. Most importantly, the seeds are LOVED by goldfinches, and will provide a sort of second season of color by their numbers when they show up and feed heartily on the seeds.

I do understand there is a perennial LQ sunflower. I looked up the images of it and mine doesn't look like that, mine looks very much like your usual annual sunflower, so maybe there are two different plants?
