Sterilizing clay pots

How do I sterilize or disinfect a clay pot? I have a pot with some annual vinca that rotted (probably just couldn't take all the rain...), so I have to discard that obviously but think I should disinfect the pot. Can I dunk it in bleach or will that ruin the color of the pot? Should I just scrub it down with dish soap and hot water and a stiff brush? Or should I just set it in the hot sun for a few days? This is a new one one me - no clue how to go about this!

my fall back is 10% bleach for cleaning ...

i doubt you will discolor it.. but if so... consider it tie dye.. lol ...

i would scrub it out.. then scrub with bleach... and let it dry in sun ...

by fall back to lazy... i would flush it out with the hose.. and leave it be...

really now... why does it need to be sterilized??? ... its an outdoor pot isnt it ...

i think you are in 'overthinkitmode'

I think it needs to be sterilized because the plants rotted - not sure if caused by fungus or simply too much rain.

I would be really upset if this pot got "tie dyed" - it was a quite expensive piece.
