| Found this in 2010 as a very nice variegated volunteer seedling of 'Dynasty Rose Lace ... DRL is a outstanding dianthus putting on a long season of color and lasting two or three years in my zone 3, though is often referred to as being zone 5 or 6 hardy. This year, I also planted 'Orchid Lace' and am also very pleased with it and will now try the entire series.
Unfortunately, these photos do not do the plant proper justice. The first few seasons it makes for a very nice compact edging plant and when mature gets topped off with an attractive show of dark red blooms that occur unusually late in the season for a dianthus / sweet William. Although, I'll attempt to collect seeds, it's unlikely they'll come true, so have taken cuttings from non flowering growth to ensure I can continue this plant on in my garden. I'll add that it's not completely uncommon to find variegated seedlings of sweet William or other plants that produce a mass number of seeds. Terrance |

| wow!! I love that. I am a sucker for variegated foliage and the flowers are such a bonus. The red looks amazing with the foliage. |
