How are the SOMBRERO coneflowers?

I had no intention of buying anymore plants this season but while at one of my favourite independent nurseries the other day the owner was singing the praises of HOT CORAL and the other members of "Sombrero" lineup of echinacea. I have no space at all but I still bought two of them...embarrassing.

I don't see any reviews in our coneflower forum for these plants. Has anyone had them in their garden since the spring?

(Or is everyone holding out until next season to get 'Cheyenne Spirit'?)

They are tempting for sure. I am an Echinacea purist, but these look very nice.

It is my understanding that this is the first season for (widespread) availability of the "Sombrero" coneflowers.

First season...but I can tell already they have lots of branches at the crown which means better survival over winters. The blooms are not distorted or randomly quilled like some other varieties. These are tough just like the Pow Wow plants. I'll update my comments next spring, but I am already impressed with them.
