Not sure if this is the right forum but, I am looking to find an Ornamental Grass with some color about 2-4 ft high that tolerates part to full shade. Any ideas?? Saturn

Hard to find shade loving OG's that will reach that height......most are quite short. Hakonechloa macra - lots of color variations and various Carex will work although unlikely to hit anything more than 2', if that. Carex morrowii 'Aureovariegata', 'Ice Dance' , 'Evergold' ps. there is an Ornamental Grasses forum :-)

I was thinking the same thing, height-wise, and I also thought of carex and hakone. They really are quite nice, if you can live with the shorter height! Dee

I grow little bluestem 'Blue Heaven' in part shade which stays two feet tall and is bluish with reddish accents in summer turning reddish purple in fall. It only gets a few hours of full afternoon sun. This is also near a large maple tree which may be a factor in keeping it short and compact. My hakone grass is in the same bed just a bit over with little sun and gets only 6-8 inches tall.
