Saw my first japanese beetle of the season

Imagine the weather this summer has set back emergence. Now I do realize that considering I live in an apt and my gardening is limited to my 3rd floor balcony and trips to my folks' place or sister's does lower the odds of my seeing them, but still, I usually see them before now. (Although they do seem to be rather uncommon up north where my folks are no matter the year. Instead, the rose chaffers are the main pest up there.)

But anyway, found it munching away on my Amorphophallus Konjac. Put the little bugger to good use -- fed it to one of my spiders. Smiley

Amazing. We battled them in Chicago my entire pre-Kansas life, and they were always gone by mid-August, turned into grubs that killed the lawns. They showed up in KC a year or two ago, but so far so good here. If we ever get heavily intested -- it's time to move again!
