| This was a commonly grown annual when I gardened in SE Texas, very heat resistant. It was sold under the name "Blue Daze" and not considered cold-hardy. Evolvulus nuttalianus (a species name often used interchangeably with glomeratus) is a widely distributed perennial shrublet growing up into South Dakota. So you'd think there's a reasonably ornamental form that's cold-hardy, but I don't see it in nurseries. |

| It is one of my favorite pot plants, both the lovely little blue flowers and the slightly fuzzy, silvery foliage. I have grown it for years, often managing to overwinter it indoors. Unfortunately, mine died last winter and I didn't find any locally this year. I have hopes for next year, but if I can't find it in my neighborhood garden centers, Avant Gardens carries it and I will mail order it. http://www.avantgardensne.com/catalog/product.cgi/1/70/3809/P1/default /N/0 |
