| After seeing many of you give good reports of the daylily "Chicago Apache" I decided a week or so back to add one to our garden (it plus an "Early Bird Cardinal"). It was a small but healthy specimen and so into the garden it went. But then today I unexpectedly came across some very large potted ChAp at a big box store. Each of these 2 gallon pots were marked down to $8. It is huge. And so I bought it and home it sits not sure what to do. |

| plant it where you put the little turd.. and repot the little turd and give it as a gift to the first person who walks in the yard ... crikey.. now i have to give turd lessons... or mail it to someone .... dont you owe anyone a gift ???? ken ps: forgive me.. i am getting giddy.. the kids are headed back to school in a week .. lol ... pps: any awards for the highest number of uses of turd in one post???? |
| Ken you are a mind reader. When the dry spell breaks, in the ground it will go and the little turd will be given away. I guess with the kids back at school we will see more posts from you come September? ;) |

| Why not just leave the little turd in place and plant the big guy close by? The lil 'un will grow on to be the same size as the larger specimen in due course. Then you will have a cluster of the daylilies rather than just a single plant (not that it matters with daylilies - they ALL become clusters eventually). |

| that is the baddest word I've ever seen in print here. I can't tell you how often I wanted to write sht especially when I am mad at my sloppy garden, but stop myself. I don't want be embarrassed by someone reporting me or getting my post removed. Can we assume "turd" in acceptable in the GW lexicon? Or maybe it is such a silly word it never made it to the censor list. Ken,On the first day of school I once made a big batch of Blood Marys and brought them to the bus stop where about 8 parents and 15 kid gathered. |
| LOL on the bloody marys, Marie. I have memories from when I was teaching that one of my 6th graders, the oldest of 5 kids, came to school on the first day and announced that his mom was home partying to celebrate the first day of school. I'm with GGal - just plant the new one along with the smaller one and divide in a few years. You get instant fullness. |
| I would actually plant it elsewhere in the garden. Who says each plant has to be only in one place? Why not enjoy it in a few spots? Ah, Ken, just wait. My kids are in college now and I miss those summer days when they were little and at home . It just goes by too fast.... Dee |
