cutting back hollyhocks

My hollyhocks were beautiful this year. They are still blooming but have become very tall and sparse looking. Should I cut them back and hope for a second bloom? I never know when to cut them. The new flowers are so high up and the rest of the plant is so stringy looking.

Thanks,

Dyahn
