Delphinium seedlings in August

Help me save my delphinium seedlings! I don't know what to do next! I collected some delphinium seeds from a gorgeous Pacific Giant plant just a few weeks ago. (August 1). I sprinkled them into a few pots and covered them with a fine layer of sand thinking this fall I would cover the pots with leaves so the seeds would freeze this winter and sprout next spring. Now, just two weeks later, they have come up. What a surprise; I thought they had to be frozen first! Do they do this in nature? Should I transplant the seedlings to individual pots? How should I winter them over?
