| Is this rare? I've had echinacea plants for years (both pink and white) and this is the first time I've ever seen anything like this. It's like two blooms joined in the middle. I did a bit of research and one site suggested the plant may be diseased - I hope not as this is one of my favorites. |

| Fasciation, result of plant tissue growth along a line rather than to a point. Occurs rarely, but more in some plant families. The daisy family, Asteraceae/Compositae, includes Echinacea, is one of them. There are various potential causes, many environmental (or partly so). Below: culver's root 'Fasciation' (July 19,14). |
