Still have zero motivation to do much of anything, gardening or otherwise. On a scale of 0-10 I'm about at a 1. UGH! So, instead of working on my grad school project like I'm *supposed* to be doing, I ended up planting some perennials I bought earlier this summer - "Sentimental Blue" balloon flower, globeflower, variegated iris, milkweed. Of course, that meant re-arranging plantings, and before I knew it, late afternoon had arrived. Well, at least I accomplished *something* and that makes me feel a bit more motivated, even though it wasn't what I had planned on doing today. It sure felt nice to spend some time outside on a beautiful day, and the areas I worked on look pretty good, decidedly an improvement :0)

Hmmm, now that I think about it, you know what I really enjoyed about being outside today (outside of doing something productive)? Watching all the buzzing and flitting about of the various creatures enjoying the fruits (er, flowers) of my labor. Gorgeous butterflies (including one that has to be the largest one I've ever seen, no question), bumbles and honeybees (finally!) busy at work, hummingbird enjoying the Black and Blue salvia. :0)

Nice! Rearranging is always a fun task, especially when it involves a new plant or two. And I agree about the buzzing and flitting. It's a pleasant reminder of the larger picture of why a healthy garden is important. Congrats on a productive and enjoyable day!
