My front walk is so beautiful right now especially because of two varieties if flowering shrub. Is shrub even the right word? Bush? Would like some help with an ID and also, some of the flowers are turning pink. It doesn't seem to be scorching, but a soft pink. What's with the pink?

The bloom looks like my pinky winky hydrangea; not sure about the foliage.

| Hydrangea paniculata types Some can get pretty big. I have three limelights on the west side of our house and we haven't pruned them in the 3 1/2 years we've lived here. They have reached 7-8 ft tall. Pretty sure they were planted the year before we moved in. Hydrangeashydrangeas.com has pictures of several varieties but their pinky winky picture isn't loading for me. I usually say shrub but may describe a plant as bushy (even if it isn't a shrub). Butterfly bush is an exemption though...hm though here butterfly bushes are more like shrubby perennials, I mean bushy perennials...

Yes, they are some type of Hydrangea paniculata. Yours are lovely - I really like the pink tinge. They are reliable bloomers and love full sun, healthy attractive foliage. I have a Limelight trained into tree form. I like it, it's quite showy in bloom (it's just getting revved up now), but I don't have it planted in the right spot (as far as fitting in with the landscape).

You probably have Hydrangea 'Quick Fire. First a close up of my Quicke Fire now. Next the whole shrub as it is now. Last a close up in it's white phase taken about 2 weeks ago. (Nevermind the fly)

Never mind the fly????!!!!!! LOL! How could you NOT mind the fly? Yikes! LOL! Ugh, that is one way-too-close photo for me (and I really AM laughing out loud!) Thanks for the belly laugh, gazania! And for the nice shots of your Quickfire. I just got one in a swap this spring and while it is still small, I am truly enjoying the four beautiful blooms on it, and looking forward to the future with it. Hopefully it will grow as nicely as yours! :)

It looks just like my 'Pinky Winky.' I like my 'Vanilla Strawberry' better because the blooms are larger, but I might keep mine for now.

Thanks, guys. I think the one is definitely pinky winky. The other I'm not sure. Learned a lot from the link, Trillium. Thanks.
