Cutting Back Catmint for Winter

Just trying to gain information ahead of time so I will know what needs to be done come fall. I have quite a bit of catmint growing as a ground cover. I have cut it back once and it has returned quite nicely and now I am wondering. Do I cut it back again now (still looks fine) or wait til the frost kills it or do I leave it through the winter? I left it last year then simply rake it out in early April and it did wonderfully throughout the spring and summer. However I think this year I would rather not leave it (UGLY) unless this is best for the mint. Can you share how you tend to yours in the colder areas. Thanks in advance.
