saxifrage fortunei - tell me more.

I have been a reluctant convert to shade gardening (had no choice really) and have been resisting many of the stalwarts such as pulmonaria and the impossible hostas (do snails not exist in the US?) but my eldest pressed this luscious woodlander upon me and I have been besotted with the lovely fleshy foliage and delicate flowers. The variety is Blackberry and apple pie - a cutesy name but one which is rather apt, given its colouration. I already have a couple of these (Wada's form and some NOID one which survives utter neglect year on year....so am now looking for more info on this versatile genus (have previously grown various alpines) as the woodlanders are new and enigmatic.
