Gesneriads in the perennial border

Most of them are hardy only in zones 7 on south, but treated as temperennials elsewhere, some are very adaptable to border conditions, flowering for months and increasing their tubers and rhizomes from year to year.

Pictured are Achimenes "Purple King" (whose rhizomes have reproduced to the point of making a sizable flowering patch) and Gloxinia "Evita" (elsewhere I have a planting of this 10 feet long by two feet wide).
