Question re: Mammoth mums

I stumbled on the Mammoth mums at the nursery this afternoon. HERE THEY WERE right in front of me, so I had to buy them - I was considering ordering them after Kevin's recent post, because I've never see them locally (or just haven't noticed them before). They only had the Lavendar color, which is actually pink to my eye, and pretty enough, though I would have preferred a yellow.

Anyway, the pots are very large, and I know I can divide them to get two, maybe even three, divisions out of each. My question is: Should I overwinter them as is or divide and plant this fall? I wouldn't be dividing for a few more weeks (so October), as they're fully budded and I'm looking forward to the show, don't want to wreck this year's display, yet I'm worried dividing in the fall will lessen their chances for survival, since mums can be touchy and all.

What do you guys think - divide this fall or wait until spring?
