More likely meadow rue aka Thalictrum than columbine.

I have meadow rue in my yard and this is not meadow rue. This photo indicates a gross lacking of foliage where meadow rue has an abundance of foliage. Thanks for your suggestion.

I appreciate input regarding my inquiry. I did indeed research further in to the meadow rue line to find this plant I'm researching is thalictrum splendide aka splendid meadow rue. Now I'm hoping to find the plant for my gardens.

It could be Thalictrum rochebruneanum (see my photo in the thread titled "Tall Columbine") a few threads down. This meadow rue has very sparse foliage when it blooms. In fact, if it's kept too dry, the foliage can disappear completely. That happened to mine last year during our severe drought. Not all meadow rues are the same.

These plants don't put out new growth. These are five (or so) separate plants. Sister and I have had a very longstanding giving and sharing from our gardens and life in general. If I asked, she'd be more than happy to share. I want at least six of these plants for a new garden site at our summer cabin for next year. Can you imagine the dramatic impact? I called a nursery somewhat locally and they have them all on 50% off end-of-season sale. I'll be on the road Sat. The nursery has put them away for me. I've done a lot of business with them over the years, great results. My sister is always there for me and, likewise, I'm there for her. We're ya yas. :-)
