Perennial Border for Shady, Sandy Soil

lolainthecola

I very much want to line the back of my yard with a perennial border, but we live about 15 minutes walk from the sea, have a sandy yard with mostly shade where I would be planting (this is Panhandle FL). I am willing to amend the soil and the yard is sheltered by deep woods (if that provides any protection from sea air). Any suggestions on what would grow for me? I would like to start with some tall plants for the back row, although I'll welcome all suggestions. Of course, I would love flowering plants with lots of color. Basically, I want everything that doesn't like my growing conditions!

Many thanks,

Laurie
