| I know Sedum are famous for flopping if they get too little sun or too much water.
With those factors put aside what are your experiences with Vera flopping or not flopping?

I've only had mine since last year. Nearly killed it by moving it to a less favorable spot (if it is possible to roll your eyes at ones own self I am doing it now, LOL!). It stays pretty short for me, under eight inches. 'Vera Jameson' seems to have a funny habit of leaning a bit to one side, but it is very sturdy and does not flop in my garden at all. CMK |

| Vera has never stood up for me, it's not that kind of sedum. It's a trailing sedum and drapes along the ground. At least for me that has always been the experience. Perhaps my soil is too rich and we get too much rain. |

| Somewhat confirms what mine are doing. They (sellers) make it sound like they are upright but they do lean and trail more than most sedums I've seen. Maybe flop was the wrong word.

| whaas, your Vera sedums are beautiful. I had forgotten about mine till I found it blooming in between large pots of Hibiscus. Is yours in full sun. I love the colors and don't mind that it sprawls a bit. Mary |

| I'd considered it full sun early in the season but as it progresses they get about 4 hours of sun (right now). The foilage is a bit more on the blue side because of the lack of sun vs. purple. Glad the blooms still came around. Bumble bees love em right now! |

| Some sedums will flop no matter what. Purple Emperor is one of them. It is best to throw them out and replace with non-flopping. 'Lynda and Rodney' is a non-flopping purple, so is Postman's Pride. Both keep their colour well and do not burn in the sun. |

| In my opinion it is not that hard. There are two different kinds of situations: average(normal) and extreme(like tornado or something). I'm talking about normal. I'm very 'allergic' to floppiness, so I know practically everything about it. If a plant can't stand up in normal conditions, it will not stand up in extreme conditions either. In my garden only late September and October blooming plants have the right to demand support(because it is so hard to replace them with something). |

| I've always considered this variety to be semi-prostrate regardless of cultural conditions. |

| All thanks for sharing your experiences. Good to know how to use this plant now. Wieslaw, thanks for the addtional recommendations of 'Lynda and Rodney' and 'Postman's Pride'. A blooming purple foilage plant in September is a great addition in my mind. |

| I think your plants look fine, however anything planted next to a building is going to lean away from the building because the side facing the building is not getting the same amount of light the other sides are receiving. This is especially noticeable with any plant that needs a lot of light like Sedum. Kevin |
