Can flowering Coreopsis be divided?

I have a few coreopsis that are two years old and are flowering right now. Can I dig them out and divide them or they can only be divided in off season?

I have Moonbeam and if I divide or transplant during the season they turn all brown. They always live but look horrible. I divide in spring when they first start growing and they do great.

Sounded like waiting a bit?

I personally would wait until they start their growth in the spring. I know mine will survive whatever I do to them at that time.
