Yes, I did overwinter it a year indoors some time ago. Mine was at the edge of a grow light in a cool basement. Only a little natural light. I doubt it is too fussy, so long as it isn't toaster-strudeled by an air vent.

It is ridiculously easy to root, so you could always chuck the original and start with smaller plants if indoor space is limited.

I do recall having a hard time with it second year. Seemed reluctant to bloom, tho that could have been my ineptness with regular fertilizing, lol.

Have had it for a few years and love it! :) As mentioned, it is ridiculously easy to root. I have kept it over winter in a pot in a cool dark room with little moisture, on a sunny windowsill in a sun room, and even kept pieces in a vase of water on the sill over the kitchen sink....of course had a terrible time pulling the big root ball apart to plant them in the spring.
The plants overwintered in a pot of soil, can get scraggly, but a good hard hair cut in the spring and they bounce right back and look amazing all summer.....and of course even the scraggly bits that you cut off will root if stuck into the soil and kept moist for a few weeks.

Mindy, you know it is grown as a shade plant in the South, right? Shade or dappled sun here at least tho' you have very different conditions at your place in MA! Just be careful of hot summer sun. Not cold, not hot, Kemper says 60-80F. I killed mine when I left it outside during a very mild winter. Bet yours will do great!

I bought 4 last fall and one came back. It is labeled as an annual here in SC. It is a beautiful plant. It's in the shade in my garden. Thanks for the tip on cuttings.

well, no WONDER some of you lost it in z.7. It is Zone TEN!!! (Do we even HAVE a zone 10 in North America?)

Someone needs to talk to these South Africans about naming their plants. What could be more confusing- Mona Lavender-- when it's not a lavender, and then, to make matters worse, the common name is Swedish Ivy!!(does not look a thing like our Swedish Ivy houseplants here! (maybe the Kemper site means that all plectranthus have the common name of Swedish ivy, not just this one [ in which case, my bad.])
