old fashioned mums

Our old fashioned mums are pretty much in peak bloom now. I have no idea what their name might be - they are a pass-along plant from a neighbour. A couple of years ago I was commenting on how nice it was to have the fresh white flowers at this time of year and she said that she didn't like them; to come back in spring and dig them up and take them away! So I did.... There used to be a pink one in the group but it seems to have faded away. The patch has spread from the initial small one I got from the neighbour but not aggressively so. It fills a vacant spot nicely. I do the 'cut it back three times before early July and then leave it alone to set flowers' approach and that seems to work nicely. It sprawls a bit now that the flowers are open and heavy but it's not too messy-looking. I wait until spring to cut it back to the ground.
